Tomato and Meat Sauce

1 lb. hamburger - brown in pan, drain fat.
Same volume in chopped onions, brown in pan.
Add: 19 oz can tomatoes,
1 can tomato soup,
1/2 tsp. salt,
1.5 tsp. chili powder (or hot sauce to taste, or 1 minced jalapeno),
1 tsp. oregano

Simmer 1/2 hour, add 1/2 can water, simmer another 1/2 hour.

For chili, add 2 cans of red kidney beans and heat another 20 mins.

For really good chili, at least quadruple the above recipe, add in every spice that makes sense and a few that don't, and every kind of bean they stock in your supermarket.

Place all ingredients in a 3 quart casserole and stir until thoroughly mixed. Cover tightly and bake in a 200 degree F oven for 3-4 hours.

Serves 5-6.
