Forgotten Stew
1.5 lbs. cubed beef
2 or 3 celery stalks, cut on bias
4 to 6 carrots, halved lengthwise
2 large onions, in 1/2 inch slices
10.5 oz can tomato soup, undiluted
1/2 soup can water, cider or red wine
2 potatoes, peeled and cubed (1")
1 turnip, 3/4" cubes
1 tsp each salt and paprika
1/2 tsp each pepper, basil, thyme
Place all ingredients in a 3 quart casserole
and stir until thoroughly mixed. Cover tightly
and bake in a 200 degree F oven for 3-4 hours.
Serves 5-6.
