November 5 - Over Eight Months of Colour

The first picture is from three and a half years ago, mid-March, six weeks before we adopted Sidney. It shows what I call (are they really?) "the cherry blossom trees" just below the house where Alberni meets Stanley Park. (They've never produced a cherry, so I'm not sure...)

So these trees become beautiful around the beginning of March every year, they're the first thing to bloom - you can see the buds start to peek out in late February. But, as I was showing the other day, some trees have their fall in September, most in October, and a few remain in glorious colour well into November, and these trees have the longest season of leaf: well over eight months from late February to mid-November. People take thousands of pictures of them every year. And here we live, right above them.
