I have no idea what the water transmission main dig is up to, lately. They took the whole week before Labour Day to go about 30 metres. For some reason, they have to dig up the entire street - and for some other reason, they seem to feel they need no less than FOUR crush-cages to keep them safe if the trench walls cave in. These are important safety inventions, but since I've never seen four of them in the trench at the same time - or even three - the amount of trench-litter here seems excessive. I do have to pity them for that bundle of orange pipes that appear to be crossing the street at a shallow angle, getting in the way of every other dig (like this one). Whomever laid those down needs a good smack.
A few blocks up Robson Street, that former 45-storey hotel that we had a wonderful meal at the top of in the rotating restaurant, is deconstructed at last. Now it's just the foundation dig for another couple of condo buildings that will be half-empty, just speculation purchases by those anxious to get their money safe into Canada, while making it less livable.
